We cook the stories we are hungry for! What if the kitchen were given central stage, revealing precious hidden stories? Which politically charged performances take place between the oven and the dinner table? How can we convey the beauty and depth of intimate community moments with a DIY approach?
We are happy you’d like to come for this workshop! Before applying, please make sure you will be able to take part in the group process for all 3 days: from Friday 5.06 to Sunday 07.06, from 10:00 to 18:00, at Sinema Transtopia!
About our mindset: We see collective filmmaking as a tool for community building, resistance, and solidarity and this workshop as a lab to keep on developing ways to create stories in a horizontal, DIY setting. Therefore, we are particularly interested in working with participants who want to experiment with collective processes and who value aspects of work that are both creative and about group communication, organization and care work.
There is no need to have prior filmmaking experience (though of course filmmakers are welcome too).
More on the workshop's content: In this 3-day workshop facilitated by filmmakers Mohamad Moe Sabbah & João Carvalho, storytellers are invited to explore intuitive collaborative filmmaking. On the first day, we'll start by introductions and group building with movement-based and story telling exercises. We also will explore improvisation with camera and sound, and collectively assign roles and narrative elements in preparation for the filming. On the second day, the group constructs the set, explores technical basics, and begins filming the Wine Leave recipe, as a dramaturgical structure. Cooking actions and performance merge. On the third and last day, the last scene is filmed as the dish reaches completion. The group shares the prepared meal, watches the filmed material together, and closes with reflection and feedback.
