LSA Basketball Network Policies And Procedures

These Policies and Procedures are intended for the LSA Basketball Network Players and Parents.

Purpose: The purpose of these policies and procedures is to establish the policies and procedures that govern the participation of the Participant in the AAU basketball program offered by the LSA Basketball Network.

Membership and Eligibility: 2.1 The Participant must meet the eligibility criteria established by the Organization to participate in AAU basketball activities. 2.2 The Participant agrees to provide accurate and up-to-date information regarding their details, including but not limited to age, contact information, and health conditions.

Parents/ Guardians must provide a Legible copy of the player's Birth Certificate, Current Vaccination Record or Vaccination Waiver, and a Report Card showing the player's current grades. Players who are not passing all classes must submit a plan to ensure: Grades are improved or they may face being ineligible to play.


Code of Conduct: 

3.1 The Participant shall adhere to a high standard of
sportsmanship, fair play, and ethical conduct at all times in person and virtually. 3.2 The Participant shall respect the authority of coaches, officials, and fellow participants. 3.3 The Participant shall refrain from any form of harassment, discrimination, or violence, including but not limited to physical, verbal, or emotional abuse.


Training and Practices: 

4.1 The Participant agrees to attend all required training
sessions and practices as scheduled by the Organization. 4.2 In case of absence or tardiness, the Participant must notify the coach or team manager in advance (24 hours), whenever possible or as soon as it is safe to make notification. 4.3 The Participant shall come prepared with appropriate attire, equipment, and a positive attitude to all training, practice sessions, games, and activities.


Competitions and Travel: 

5.1 The Participant will be required to travel to participate in AAU basketball competitions or events. 5.2 The Organization shall provide information regarding competition schedules, travel arrangements, and any associated costs in a timely manner. 5.3 The Participant shall comply with the Organization's guidelines for behavior, safety, and travel arrangements
during competitions and events. 

5.4 All Players in Middle School 8th grade and under will be required to travel to out-of-state tournaments with a parent or assigned guardian. It will not be permitted for the player to attend the out-of-town tournament if the parent or guardian is unable to travel with them. For players attending an out-of-town tournament with the parents of another player, coaches will be required to check and confirm that temporary guardianship documents are complete and signed with parent contact info during the tournament. 

5.5 All Out- of-town tournament hotel accommodations must be approved by LSA Basketball Network. As a matter of team cohesion and safety, the organization prefers that all athletes stay together in the same hotel.
5.6 LSA Basketball Network will only attend travel tournaments where the
tournament host has verified there will be security at the tournament.


Financial Responsibilities: 

6.1 The Participant agrees to pay all applicable fees,dues, or other financial obligations as set forth by the Organization. 6.2 The Organization shall provide an itemized breakdown of all financial obligations associated with participation in the AAU basketball program. 6.3 Failure to meet financial obligations may result in the suspension or termination of the Participant's participation in the program.


Health and Safety: 

5.1 The Participant acknowledges and understands the risks
associated with participating in AAU basketball activities and agrees to assume those risks voluntarily. 5.2 The Participant shall provide accurate medical information and disclose any pre-existing medical conditions or injuries that may affect their ability to participate safely. 5.3 The Participant shall comply with all health and safety guidelines, rules, and regulations set forth by the Organization, including but not limited to COVID-19 protocols. 5.4 All coaches are implementing the "Safe Game" policy as an additional safety measure. 

A "Safe Game" Policy is a 1, 2, 3 approach for coaches to stop games they deem unsafe. Step 1 Grab the basketball from the game and hand it to the referee to inform them we are no longer continuing the game. Step 2 Have all the Players have a seat on the bench. Step 3 is to have all coaches and LSA staff stand in front of the players for protection until the gym has been cleared or the atmosphere is deemed safe to exit the gym. 5.5 In the event it is unsafe to remain in the gym the coach has the right to safely escort the team from the gym to the nearest safe location.


Privacy and Media Release: 

6.1 The Participant understands that photographs, videos, or other media may be taken during AAU basketball activities and agrees to allow the Organization to use such media for promotional purposes. 6.2 The
Organization shall handle personal information in accordance with  applicable data protection laws and regulations.


Termination: 

7.1 The Organization reserves the right to suspend or terminate the
Participant's participation in the AAU basketball program for violations of this Contract, misconduct, or any other justifiable reason. 7.2 The Participant may terminate their participation in the program by providing written notice to the Organization, subject to any applicable contractual obligations.
