Sleepover Procedures & Rules

PROCEDURE FOR VOLUNTEERS

1. We are now having everyone get set up as a foster prior to taking a dog on a field trip or sleepover, if you don’t already have a foster application on file we will need that filled out prior to you taking the dog. If you would like to help out this pup or other APA! pups for more than a field trip or a sleepover, please consider fostering them until they get adopted (or at least for 2 weeks). To do that, please fill out the foster application at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/foster/APA/Dog

2. Completely fill out this form at least 48 hours in advance.

3. Wait for approval.

4. Pick up dogs and CHECK FOR MEDICATION with the Matchmakers in Building B.

5. If you have never received a formal Behavior Consult for this dog, you will need to get that prior to taking the dog. The Matchmakers will get your Behavior Consult arranged and either they or a member of the Behavior Team will reach out to get that done.  If you haven’t received the Behavior Consult prior to picking up, please check in with staff when you pick up. If you have previously received a formal Behavior Consult for this dog please check in with the Matchmakers to make sure there are no new behaviors you need to be aware of.

6. Write SLEEPOVER or FIELD TRIP with return date and time on the white board before you take them from their kennel!

7. Return the dog; ERASE SLEEPOVER/FIELD TRIP from the white board!

8. Fill out the Sleepover & Field Trip Feedback Form HERE. Upload any photos using this form HERE.

* Fun Fact: Did you know, in addition to the sleepover feedback form and the regular photo upload form, you can also use the AdoptMe App to add live posts to a dog’s page like a picture/video diary? You can still upload high-quality photos via the Photo Form if you want them to appear in the dog's "banner/slideshow." But the AdoptMe App  pics and captions can be more candid and casual moments from a dog's life. All you have to do is download the app on your phone, and link to Austin Pets Alive's database!
