F&B Communications: Bennett Fiber Optic Construction Acknowledgment
As part of our network upgrade plan, F&B Communications is bringing Fiber to the Home (FTTH) to Bennett. This means the installation of fiber optic cables (made of very thin glass fibers) to carry digital information directly to homes and businesses. FTTH technology will allow current and future F&B customers to receive advanced phone, Internet and television services over the same fiber optic line, greatly enhancing the quality and performance of all three. In addition to providing you the latest in communications technology, homes served by FTTH equipment carry increased value at resale.
Our main line and drop line construction begins this summer and will continue throughout 2020 and 2021 with most of the work concentrated in the alleys and areas behind your home or business. Our technicians and contractors will also be installing a small diameter orange underground conduit from our service distribution box to your residence or business.
There is no cost to you to have the fiber optic conduit and cable installed to your home or business during this initial construction phase. If you decide to decline the installation at this time, there may be fees or charges at a later date.
If you are a current F&B customer, the installation of the fiber optic conduit to your home will not result in a direct increase in charges for services you may currently subscribe to unless you choose to upgrade to more advanced services as they become available. If you do not subscribe to F&B services today, we hope you will still give us permission to install the fiber conduit should you or a future property owner wish to subscribe to service.
Prior to construction beginning on your property, our technicians will be contacting Iowa One Call to have underground utilities marked. If you are aware of private service lines or underground fuel tanks and gas lines on your property, we ask that you inform our technicians in advance so they can be avoided during construction.
Please keep in mind the fiber optic upgrade is a multi-phase project. Electronic equipment will also need to be installed at homes or businesses at a later date. If you have any questions, please contact us at (563) 374-1236.
