Major Taylor Ride Camp: Summer 2018 Registration (July 9-13)
Does your kid have a desire to learn more about bikes? Are they enthusiastic about riding and interested in gaining more skills? Would they like to be able to perform basic maintenance and repairs on their bike? Then Reno Bike Project is excited to have your youth in this Summer's Major Taylor Ride Camp! This 5-day camp meets July 9th - 13th, from 9-12pm M-Th and 9-2 F. The group will gain road safety, bike handling, mechanics, and more skills; all while exploring the Truckee Meadows and doing fun activities by bicycle.

Here is an overview of the Major Taylor Ride Camp experience:
Monday 7/9: Safety: Basic safe riding/handling skills, bike set up, riding ergonomics, bike ride + activity
Tuesday 7/10: Preparation: Bicycle safety check, tools & their uses, bike parts, bike ride + activity
Wednesday 7/11: Community: Group riding skills, bike maintenance & mechanics, flat repair, bike ride + activity
Thursday 7/12: Achievement: Advanced handling, road rules, hand signals, bike ride + activity
Friday 7/13: Fun!: Long/destination bike ride, pizza party, graduation

Youth must know how to ride a bicycle, stand between 4’10 - 6’7, and be 11-18 years old. The camp fee is $125 per participant and must be paid prior to the first bike ride. We provide bikes for participants to ride, bike helmets, gloves, and all tools and equipment. Participants should arrive having had breakfast, in comfortable & appropriate riding clothing, with close-toed shoes. Each day, we will meet in a different location. More details to follow sign-up.

Tuition provides: 17 hours of instruction, bike and other equipment, daily snacks, activities, water bottle, and MTP cycling t-shirt!

Scholarships are available; we don't want to price out families for whom the tuition would create a hardship. To apply for a scholarship, please contact Genevieve Parker, genevieve@renobikeproject.org.

We're expecting clear skies and comfortable temps but, of course, weather is unpredictable. If the weather will be overly unfavorable, we'll let you know and refund your child's tuition for any days cancelled. This is a great introduction to riding for amusement, or to get around, and it's a lot of fun!
