Bangor Symphony Youth Orchestra Ensembles
The Pre-Orchestra Program (Ryu Mitsuhashi, instructor) offers beginning string players their first taste of ensemble playing. As an introductory group, students will learn the importance of following a conductor, listening, and playing together. Pre-Orchestra meets every other week for 45 minutes. No audition required.

The Prelude String Orchestra (Sascha Zaburdaeva, conductor) provides a solid foundation for intermediate string players seeking to gain experience in an ensemble setting. Students should possess a basic level of musicianship and will develop the skills necessary to play in a full orchestra. The Prelude String Orchestra will rehearse and perform its own repertoire, and will combine with the Prelude Wind Ensemble on occasion.

The Prelude Wind Ensemble (Becky Mallory, conductor) provides a solid foundation for intermediate woodwind, brass and percussion players seeking to gain experience in an ensemble setting. Students should possess a basic level of musicianship and will develop the skills necessary to play in a full orchestra. The Prelude Wind Ensemble will rehearse and perform its own repertoire, and will combine with the Prelude String Orchestra on occasion.

The Philharmonic Orchestra (Sascha Zaburdaeva, conductor) is an advanced ensemble. Players should have a strong command of their instrument, possess an advanced level of musicianship and have a solid foundation of ensemble experience.

School Information
The BSYO is proud to support music education at all levels. BSYO musicians MUST participate in their school's band and/or orchestra program if such a program is offered in order to be eligible to audition. If a BSYO musician or parent foresees a conflict (in scheduling, for example), it is the obligation of the parent and musician to discuss this with the school band or orchestra instructor so that an amicable agreement is reached that benefits both the musician and the school's orchestra or band program.

NOTE: Upon acceptance, we will once again be requiring a school music instructor's signature to confirm participation when applicable.
