Cultivate ACCESS: Data Science in Agriculture

Since 2017, the Cultivate ACCESS program has worked to increase participation of Nebraska students who typically do not pursue science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) related agricultural careers. The Cultivate ACCESS program includes multiple pathways for students and educators to get involved.

The objectives of the Data Science in Agriculture project are to:

  1. Provide youth near-peer mentoring through the Cultivate ACCESS program.
  2. Develop and curate an integrated suite of asynchronous modules and games that connect data-infused agricultural technologies with complex systems thinking skills.
  3. Foster a community of learners to share their gained knowledge through community action such as social media campaigns, op ed writing, and video creation.
