VOLUNTEER INFORMATION QUESTIONNAIRE

Welcome the Austin Green Team!!  We anticipate an exciting summer. With newly added activities, our reach in the community is expanding and our mission is continually being fulfilled.  

Our Mission

The Austin Green Team is a volunteer organization that builds, maintains, and supports community gardens and community beautification in the Austin neighborhood. For almost thirty years, the Austin Green Team has also managed two greenhouses located in the Austin Career & Educational Academy High School, propagating and growing plants that help maintain the community gardens that the Austin Green Team oversees. The purpose of the Austin Green Team is to enhance the quality of life issues by working collaboratively with other community stakeholders in beautifying the Austin Community.

About Our Gardens

Currently, there are five gardens that the Green Team manages throughout the Austin community.  The gardens are as follows:

We Love Our Youth Workers & Volunteers!!!
We welcome the summer youth workers, the community, non-profit organizations, small groups, companies looking for team building projects to join us as we work to create a safe and peaceful community in Austin.  Please complete this youth information questionnaire so that we can learn a little more about you, and make sure that in the event we need to contact someone on your behalf we will have immediate access to their contact information.  

Besides working in our gardens, the Austin Green Team would like for you to enjoy the garden as well!  We invite you to join us at some of our community garden events, "Movies In The Garden," and our annual Garden Tour.  Feel free to take a stroll through the gardens, and pick produce from the gardens for your family meals!  This year, our summer events will be held at Rosie's Peace In The Valley Garden, 168 N. Laramie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60644.  We look to see you there!

What is required of our youth workers?
Safety is our priority and we want you to enjoy your time while working in the gardens.  The recommended attire in the gardens are as follows:  Gloves, rubber boots or shoes, long sleeves, hat to protect you from the sun, long pants, sun screen to protect your skin, and insect spay.  Remember to bring water, especially for hot days.
