RTWC's Pledge to Equity and Inclusion
Rebuilding Together Washington County (RTWC) believes that everyone deserves to live in a safe and thriving community. RTWC is committed to preserving the dignity, humanity, and uniqueness of each of our staff, volunteers, and service recipients. To achieve this, we:
-- Acknowledge that the United States has a long-history of practices and policies that have kept communities from experiencing safe and healthy housing. These policies have created discrimination and inequity through practices including: federal funding priorities, red lining, affordable housing restrictions, real estate practices, sub-prime loans, and gentrification.
-- Strive to be accountable to all of the communities we serve, assist in the dismantling of the institutional barriers that prevent people from accessing our services, and ensure our services meet our community’s needs.
-- Work to ensure that all of our programs and services are equitable in both access and outcomes regardless of a person’s race, ethnicity, faith, culture, language, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or family status, income level, and other perceived differences.
-- Operate with the knowledge that certain communities are significantly over-represented among those experiencing homelessness and housing instability in Washington County and that there are disparities in outcomes for members of those communities.
-- Pursue effective strategies and devote dedicated time and resources at every level of our organization to be responsive to the expressed needs of people experiencing of housing instability and to address these disparities through high-quality, culturally responsive services.
We have established the following code of conduct to strive to provide work place environments that are free of discrimination, and harassment and welcoming to all people. RTWC has established the following code of conduct for staff, volunteers, subcontractors, and service recipients so that, together, we can create a safe community where every person can thrive.
