Girls Talk Math Volunteer Interest Form 2023
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at Girls Talk Math - a FREE math day camp for rising 9th to 12th grade students. In 2023, camp will run IN PERSON* at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, July 10th - 21st, Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm EST.

*We will be taking precautions in alignment with UNC's policies. Currently, we expect to require proof of a negative COVID test before camp and the encouragement of mask wearing.

Campers will explore the history of women in mathematics and work on problems related to/inspired by the fields some of these women contributed to. Throughout the camp the girls will learn about various math topics, interview current female mathematicians, engage with panels about things like applying to college, and other various activities.

Therefore, we will need volunteers for a few different tasks, and those who sign-up will need to go through a background check.

Are you interested in being a team leader? This role involves you meeting with a small group of students during camp and checking in on their progress on their mathematical topic packet and helping them with their difficulties. Prior to camp you would need to work through the math packet so that you understand the ideas. We are happy to help you with this step! You do NOT need to be a math major or have taken a lot of math courses in order to be a team leader.
Would you be interested in being on panels about applying to college, your career path, your experiences  in STEM, etc?
