The Local Self-Determination Advisory Committees (SDACs) are in charge of ensuring that the Self-Determination Program principles and legal requirements are followed.

The State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) is responsible for appointing 50% of the members to the Local SDACs.

The Local SDACs offer suggestions for program improvements to the regional center and the Department of Developmental Services.
