If you intend to volunteer as a docent at the Art of Trash 2024 exhibit with Mālama Maui Nui ("M.M.N.") held at the Maui Mall, please read and sign the below waiver BEFORE volunteering. Only one waiver is required for the entirety of the event held from April 19th and May 17th, 2025.

In connection with your volunteer participation with M.M.N for the Art of Trash 2025 event, you expressly agree to all terms contained within this waiver.

You understand that you are serving as a non-compensated volunteer. Further, you agree that you are not an employee of M.M.N., and you are not entitled to any form of compensation, benefits, or reimbursement for your service as a volunteer. During the entirety of your time as a volunteer with M.M.N., you are solely responsible for your own medical, disability, hazard, and liability insurance coverage. If you elect to not carry any such insurance, you do so at your own risk. 

You understand that there is an inherent risk of personal injury associated with your voluntary participation in the activities described herein, including but not limited to illness, paralysis, permanent disability, damage to personal property, and death. You further agree and understand that M.M.N. has made no promises or assurances as to the conditions that might lead to aforementioned risks. 

By volunteering with M.M.N and signing this waiver, you agree to indemnify and hold M.M.N. harmless from all liability as a result of your service at the Art of Trash 2025 event. 

During your participation in the Art of Trash 2025 event, you may have access to use of M.M.N. materials and equipment. You understand that such materials and equipment are to be used solely for activies directly related to the Art of Trash 2025 event. Further, you agree that prior to using M.M.N materials or equipment, you have been trained and/or understand the proper use and operation of such items. Finally, if you are not able to and/or do not feel comfortable using such materials or equipment, you shall not use them and will notify M.M.N. staff immediately.

At the Art of Trash 2025 event, M.M.N. will be soliciting donations as well as selling limited quantities of merchandise. As a volunteer, you agree to provide all funds collected to M.M.N at the conclusion of the volunteer shift.

During the course of your participation in the Art of Trash 2025 event, you may have access to materials, data, strategies, trade secrets, proprietary information, systems, or other information relating to M.M.N. that are intended for internal use only. You hereby agree that any such information acquired by you shall not be used, published, or shared without the express written consent of an authorized M.M.N. representative.

As volunteer at the Art of Trash 2024 event, you agree and understand that photographs may be taken and such photographs may be used in M.M.N. promotional and marketing materials. You hereby waive any such right to approve or inspect such photographs before such use by M.M.N.  

You agree that during your participation at the Art of Trash 2025 event you will comply with all applicable federal, state, or county government laws and any applicable rules, policies, or procedures of M.M.N.
