Mystery Friends is an intergenerational penpal program intended to create connections at First Unitarian between children/youth (K-12th grade) and adults. Adult/child penpal pairs will exchange letters for 5 weeks, and then meet up at a special luncheon where their identities will be revealed. Letters can contain clues about who you are and other interesting information you want to share with your Mystery Friend. Don’t know what to write? Watch for weekly letter-prompts!
The deadline to sign up is Sunday, Jan 5th, and the letter exchange will run Jan 19 - Feb 16th with the meet-up after church on Feb 23 [if you are unavailable to attend the lunch on 2/23/25, please talk to Christina before signing up to discuss the possibility of an alternate meet-up time can be made]. Participants will receive their code name and an optional prompt for their first letter, on Jan 12th.
By signing up for the Mystery Friends program, you are committing to exchanging 5 letters, on Jan 19, Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb 9, and Feb 16. Letters should be brought to church on the day of exchange or dropped off beforehand if you are unable to attend that Sunday (so nobody is missing a letter on the day of the exchange!)
Mystery Friends will be revealed at lunch on Sun Feb 23rd at 12:30pm. Adult/child pairs will sit together for lunch and get to know each other better with some games & discussion questions.
Please sign up for Mystery Friends by filling out the form below. In the event that we receive more adult commitment forms than we have children to participate, we will match the earliest applicants first (and any unmatched adults will be at the top of the list for matches next year if still interested).
