Dr. Elena Steinheim studied medicine in Russia and Germany and graduated from Faculty of Medicine at Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main in 2007. Following this, she practiced internal medicine in Germany. Having always had a keen interest in alternative medicine, she studied Ayurveda (the ancient Indian system of medicine) parallel to her work in the hospital. After moving to Sri Lanka in 2012 she had an opportunity to practice with renowned Ayurvedic doctors for four years. In her work Dr. Steinheim integrates ancient wisdom with modern western medicine since both systems complement one another. She creates a focus on treatment and prevention through diet, lifestyle, physical and breathing exercises; use of the latest laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques; and prescribed combinations of drugs and/or botanical medicines, supplements, therapeutic diets, detoxification programs, or stress-management techniques. She is also a certified yoga teacher offering regular courses to the QSI community.
