Idaho State University 2019 Geology Field Camp Application

Prerequisites:

The most important prerequisite is for a student to be in STRONG physical condition and be ready to “jump in with both feet” to an intensive 16 hour-a-day, 6 days-a-week group learning experience. Completed assignments are due several nights a week, with a culminating final map project due at the end of each field area. Those applying should be a junior or senior Geosciences Major. Specific course prerequisites are flexible, except Structural Geology and Sedimentary Geology are required with a minimum grade of “C” or better.

Instructions for Completing the Field Camp Application:

1. Complete this online application which includes your student information, personal statements (responses to questions asked at the end of this form), and the name of the person writing your letter of recommendation. Feel free to read the questions in advance, type your responses into another document, and then cut and paste your response into the application when you are ready to submit it.

2. A "Letter of Recommendation" from a faculty member who can address your “ability to participate in a physically and academically demanding 5-week group learning experience in the geology of the Idaho mountains."

Please have the faculty member submit the letter of recommendation to Lori Tapanila by email, fax, or snail mail.
