The garden committee serves as a decision-making body for the garden, along with the garden coordinator. Between four and seven people may serve on the garden committee at any given time, and members serve for a one-year period from March 1st - February 28th. The garden committee meets twice a month from April-September and once a month from October-March. The meeting time is chosen by the members of the committee. The garden coordinator is in charge of creating agendas for the meetings, but the garden committee members are always welcome to submit items to the agenda. At the committee meetings, members discuss programming, events, funding, and purchasing decisions. New garden committee members will be chosen by the current garden committee.
Garden committee members do not need to have experience with gardening or even prior experience working with the MARC Community garden - we value the input of new voices. Committee members must be committed to productive and civil discussion. They must also show significant enthusiasm for the MARC Community Garden. An ideal candidate would have experience working with people from different social backgrounds.
