API Impact and Needs Survey

The role of local and community news in sustaining democracy has never been more important.  At the American Press Institute, our mission is to support and strengthen local news leaders through practical programs, research, tools and consulting. 

To do this well, we need to understand the depth and real-world impact of our work — from the ideas you’ve tried to the changes you’ve made — and how we can continue to support you in 2026.

This short survey, which takes about 15 minutes to complete, asks about your experience with API over the past calendar year, and your needs going forward. Your insights are appreciated and will directly shape how we show up for local journalism.
