We want your health care stories whether you are willing to share in letter form, via an animation, on camera, just audio, etc.
Please share widely! We want everyone's stories - every state in the U.S., from all over NYS, every borough, every state Senate district...
Your story will be part of campaigns fighting for the New York Health Act and nationwide universal health care by organizations such as Campaign for New York Health, Healthcare NOW and NY Health Act Now.
Everyone has a health care story. Do you have a health care story we can share?
So far, we’ve heard from patients, healthcare professionals and small business owners affected by the ACA that have:_Developed serious health problems because of cost or insurance company bureaucracy_Delayed treatment because of cost_Stayed in unhealthy relationships or jobs for fear of losing health care coverage_Worry about losing coverage if the ACA is repealed because of cost or a pre-existing condition._Worry about losing their business because private insurance premiums keep rising_Observed different treatment for patients based on health insurance status_Observed a patient delay or refuse health care because of cost
New York is closer than ever before to making universal health care - health care for EVERY resident regardless of age, health, income, race, citizenship or other statuses - a reality that could help pave the way for a national plan as well. The NY Health Act S4840 has already passed the Assembly, and now it is only one co-sponsor away from having a majority of the Senate on board.
Featuring the stories of people who need universal health care is a super important component of this movement and to convincing our elected officials and neighbors that we need and want universal health care.
