Name a Library Cart: Andersen Horticultural Library edition 2026

Take a break and get creative! We need your name suggestions for our first Andersen Horticultural Library's “Name a Library cart” contest! As with previous UMN Libraries Name a Library Cart contests, we are inspired by the Minnesota Department of Transportation or MnDOT’s “Name a snowplow” contest.

What names can you come up with?

We will gather names, narrow the field, then open up voting in mid-July. Please submit your most witty, unique flowery, plant, nature or book-themed ideas to name one of our library carts. Additional inspiration:  This year's truck is a teal color.

Submissions will be accepted through Monday, July 6.

This year’s contest includes a few basic rules:

  • Submissions are limited to no more than 30 characters (including letters and spaces).
  • Gosh darn it, nothing vulgar please.
  • Politically inspired names (including phrases, slogans or plays on politicians’ names) will not be considered. Naming book carts is meant to be fun and lighthearted, so we’re going to keep this contest nonpartisan and nonpolitical.
Finalists and voting will be announced in a few weeks. Follow @umnhortlib and @umnlib on instagram for updates, and stay tuned for more opportunities to name a library cart!
