Welcome to the 2025 gardening season! We hope everyone is looking forward to a terrific season of planting, growing, harvesting and building community around gardening and local food in Truckee, CA.
The Truckee Community Garden is a program of Slow Food Lake Tahoe, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Our mission is to connect our community to the enjoyment of good, clean and fair food by inspiring a self-reliant food culture. We educate the community about growing, preparing and accessing local and sustainable food. Good, clean and fair food for all.
IMPORTANT DATES, WEATHER PERMITTING:

By April 15 - Registration opens for the gardening season. First come first served based on the beds that are available. Payment is due within 10-days of your garden bed being assigned. Failing to pay may result in your garden bed being given to the next gardener on the list.

By May 1- Beds Assigned Gardeners will receive email notification of bed assignment and payment invoice
Returning gardeners will be notified at this time. Renewal includes completing this form and making your payment. Meeting this deadline is a requirement to retain your garden plot. Missing the deadline may result in your plot being turned over to the waiting list.

MAY 25 - Garden officially opens. Welcome information and orientation sessions to be set by Garden Coordinator (look for updates via email).

JUNE 15 - Garden planting deadline. Failure to plant and make use of your garden plot by this date may result in the loss of your plot, with no refund of garden fees.

FIRST WEEK IN OCTOBER - Water may be turned off at the garden by Truckee Donner Parks and Rec, weather dependent.

Mid-
OCTOBER Gardens officially closes for the season. Gardens are required to be cleared and cleaned out by this date, otherwise you will forfeit your plot for the following year. Closing date is weather dependent. Gardeners will be notified of closing date via e-mail.
GARDEN JOBS: The responsibility (and fun!) of maintaining the garden grounds and facilities throughout the season is shared by ALL community garden participants. All gardeners are expected to fulfill volunteer job requirements in order to continue gardening with this program. Garden coordinators will provide information on sign ups for seasonal jobs, watch for updates via email.
Gardeners are also asked to commit to volunteering twice in the garden during Harvest Monday, Workday Wednesday, or a Saturday Dig-In (view event dates and times on our website)Contact your Garden Coordinators with any questions, comments, or for assistance:
