Patricia Waller endured years of domestic violence. Patti tried leaving and filing police reports and restraining orders but the abuse continued. Feeling hopeless, she used drugs to numb herself. In 1995, Patti took part in a robbery of a drug dealer with a friend to support her addiction. During the robbery, her friend unintentionally killed the victim. Patti accepted a plea deal for 20 years in prison which she didn't realize would also make her subject to deportation.

While incarcerated, Patti healed from her abuse through the support of other incarcerated survivors and became a mentor to other survivors. Next week, CDCR and Gov. Newsom plan to have ICE arrest Patti as she leaves prison.

Join us in calling on Gov Newsom to not transfer Patti to ICE and the Monterey County DA to correct errors in Patti's plea that made her subject to deportation.
