Academia Scholarship for Students attending the 2026 TAPA Fall Conference

This scholarship is brought to you by the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s Department of Sociology, Anthropology, and Geography in partnership with the Tennessee Chapter of the American Planning Association (TAPA).

The scholarship is intended to support university students in Tennessee interested in urban planning and related fields, including students studying Urban Studies, Environmental Science, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, GIS, and other related programs, by helping them attend the 2026 Tennessee Planning Conference in Chattanooga.

Priority consideration will be given to University of Tennessee at Chattanooga students, but all planning students are eligible to apply.

 I think improvements to everything can be made. From transportation to affordable housing, community aid, to federal and state laws. Improvement and involvement from the state and federal level can greatly improve the situation. 
What would make the TAPA Fall Conference most useful or engaging for students like you?  A Q+A section, where we can ask questions to the professional planner. Opportunity to learn more about the career field
What resources, courses, experiences, or opportunities do you wish were available at your school to help you better prepare for a career in planning or a related profession?  Internship opportunities, having professional speakers come and talk to interested students. Money invested into the program.
