The People's Market is a community-driven initiative designed to offer a dignified grocery shopping experience to those facing food insecurity. Unlike traditional food banks, it provides a setting similar to a grocery store, complete with shopping carts, aisles, and a variety of culturally relevant fresh and frozen items. This program aims to empower clients, allowing them to choose essentials based on their family's needs and preferences, thus addressing the food insecurity faced by 1 in 7 Canadians.
The People's Market in Scarborough is seeking dedicated volunteers to support our efforts in providing food to the community. Volunteers will assist with tasks such as sorting and distributing produce, organizing stock, checking out clients, and maintaining a welcoming and clean environment.
