Description: On June 1, 2017, Governor Brown signed into law House Bill 2005, the Oregon Equal Pay Act of 2017. The new law becomes effective January 1, 2019 and prohibits discrimination in the payment of wages or other compensation for work of comparable character on the basis of a protected class. It also creates new provisions designed to transform the way many employers make compensation decisions.
