Involvement in the Link Crew Program requires a commitment of time, both in and out of school. One training day will be required in May before school is out, two training days will be in August the week before school starts, and Link Leaders will facilitate Freshman Orientation on the first day of school. In addition, Link Leaders need to be enrolled in the Social Psychology class during the regular day schedule. The Social Psychology class meets both the University of California and the California State University’s “G” requirement.*A "0" period Link Crew may be offered if there is enough interest.
LINK CREW IS A YEAR-LONG COMMITMENT! Throughout the school year, Link Leaders will facilitate “Link Lessons” during Advisory twice per month on social/academic issues and they will contact their Crew for individual mentoring sessions as needed. They commit to mentor their freshmen for the entire school year. Link Leaders will also plan and facilitate activities for the freshmen class, as well as participate in Link Crew fundraisers, Frosh social follow-ups, tutoring sessions, grade interventions, and other projects. Do your best to schedule vacations, work and appointments around these important events.

There is no interview for this program unless we have concerns about your application, so the questions below are an important way for the Link Crew advisors to get to know you better. Please write several sentences-- not just one.
1. Tell us about yourself and any activities/clubs/teams/organizations you are involved in both in and out of school, especially if you will be involved in these activities next year: *
2. Why would you like to be a Link Crew Leader? Share as many reasons as are relevant. *
3. What qualities do you have that would make you a good Link Crew Leader for freshmen and other students we may have a chance to mentor? *
4. Why do you think a program like Link Crew is important for our students and for our campus? *
5. As a Link Crew leader, you will be considered a role model on campus. We are looking for applicants who conduct themselves appropriately both inside AND outside of school, are willing to be a team player, and are reliable. For examples, Link Leaders need to be conscious of what they post on social media, be ready to volunteer for the various needs of the program, and are NOT frequently absent. Please describe how you plan to fulfill these three important requirements. *
6. Have you encountered any special challenges or had any special experiences that you think have contributed to your understanding of others? (i.e. family problems, having to move frequently, socio-economic issues that your family has faced, overcoming your own self-esteem issues, addiction, divorce, adoption or foster care, not living with parents, family members with physical or mental handicaps or medical issues-- or things like community service experiences, church activities, visiting other countries-- anything that has deepened your compassion or awareness of others): *
Thank you for your sincere responses! You will be notified of your acceptance as a JVHS Link Crew Leader Thrusday before Spring Break! If you are accepted, you will be invited to a training day in May. Keep your grades as strong as possible.
I understand the commitments required to be a Link Crew Leader. I am willing to give my best efforts toward supporting the Jurupa Valley High School Link Crew Program and all of its requirements. In order to participate as a Link Crew Leader, I will attend all of the mandatory dates listed: April Training Day (during school), 2-Day Summer Orientation Training the week before school begins, Freshman Orientation (the first day of school) * *
