We’d love to know as many details about you as you can think of. To reiterate, the more info you provide, the better we know what stories you can help us tell.

This can be, but is not limited to, how and where you grew up, where you've lived for most of your life, how you identify yourself, which languages you speak, the intersections you live on, types of discrimination or marginalisation you've had to deal with, what hobbies you have, what makes you feel happy/sad, your values, or events that made you who you are.

We've also left a space for you to include any stories from your life that you think could be interesting to tell to language learners, so we can tailor our content to your lived experiences.

In Section 2 of 2, we will ask you about your identity using multiple choice options (with an option of free text input to accommodate answers that fit you better but aren't listed).

None of the questions in the two sections are mandatory, but we recommend that you fill out at least one of the two sections.

To upload the file(s) we suggest using sendspace.com (as it doesn't require a login). Afterwards, add the sendspace download link below.

If you already have access to a cloud uploading service, feel free to use that one, making sure that anyone with the link can access the file(s) (eg. Dropbox, Google Drive, Box etc.).

We will then download the file(s) and store them with the rest of your data.

We understand that legal text can look really intimidating, so to break it down in simpler terms, this next portion describes why we are collecting information in this form, and that we will hold it in a database. Your personal data included in your application as a talent will be processed by Babbel GmbH (Andreasstraße 72, 10243 Berlin, Germany) (“we”; “us”) as a controller. We strive to create inclusive learning content that represents the diversity of different language communities. We strongly encourage People of Color, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and members of marginalised ethnic groups to contribute their voices, original stories and cultural perspectives to our content and to bring authenticity to characters with diverse backgrounds.

The processing of your personal data is necessary for the purpose of carrying out the recruitment process (pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(1)(b) GDPR). We will furthermore collect and store your personal data for the purpose of creating an internal database of talents enabling us to contact you in the event that a job becomes available for which you are a suitable candidate, provided you have given us your explicit consent (pursuant to Art. 6 (1)(1)(a) GDPR). If your application contains special categories of data within the meaning of Art. 9 GDPR, such data will be processed based on your explicit consent (pursuant to Art. 9 (2)(a) GDPR). Your personal data will be processed and retained during the recruitment process, for as long as we maintain our talent database or until you revoke your consent to be included in our talent database.

Your personal data may be processed upon our prior instructions by software and cloud services providers commissioned by us (currently Google Ireland Limited).

As a data subject, you have the right to request information pursuant to Article 15 GDPR, correction pursuant to Article 16 GDPR, deletion pursuant to Article 17 GDPR, restriction of processing pursuant to Article 18 GDPR and the right to data portability pursuant to Art 20 GDPR. In addition, you may object to the processing of your data at any time or revoke your consent. Irrespective of the aforementioned rights, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a competent supervisory authority.

We are fully aware that putting people in boxes can feel uncomfortable and be limiting to the complexity of a personal identity.

However, in order to search through hundreds of people in a database looking for someone with e.g., x gender identity + y first language to match a character in a story, organising the personal data into searchable categories will make this process a lot easier.

We know that answers to the next three questions can sometimes flow together. So again, we encourage you to fill them out in a way that fits you. Again, none of these questions are mandatory.
