Options for Participation:
1. Player- Players are expected to attend a majority of practices and events (typically 2x per week from August-November), as well as meet the minimum established fundraising requirements.
2. Coaches must meet the same fundraising requirements as players, and attend and assist in planning a majority of the practices. Coaches are also expected to participate in events.
3. Super Fans- Super Fans are encouraged to attend and volunteer at as many events as possible throughout the season, including game day. Super Fans are also expected to fundraise, although there is no minimum. Super Fans are welcome to attend practices if they would like, but it is not required.
In order for players to be eligible for playing time on Game Day the following must be met:
1. $250 raised by the Draft Day Deadline, September 102. Attendance at a minimum of 2 practices prior to Draft Day (Dates will be set in advance)3. $500 total dollars raised by the Game Day Deadline4. Participation in at least one Service Day
What to expect participating in Blondes vs Brunettes:
•Creating new friendships and solidifying old ones •Knowing that you are helping thousands in the DC/MD/VA area who are living with Alzheimer’s, as well as caregivers or family/friends of someone affected•Fun, but tough practices that will help you get into shape as well as teach you important team and football skills•Fun-filled events, some of which can help you fundraise for yourself, your team, and most importantly the cause•A serious and competitive game day. Coaches will do their best to ensure that as many girls as possible will see playing time. However, it is important to keep the game competitive and interesting to drive ticket sales that ultimately help us reach our goal – to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Coaches will take into consideration fundraising and participation, however as long as the eligibility requirements are met, it is the coaches’ discretion to allocate playing time. If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact the executive committee, and we encourage players to keep an open dialogue with your coaches as well. It is our hope that with this understanding, no matter what happens on game day, it should not take away from the previous three months of hard work and fun.
Fundraising can be done either through direct donations to your fundraising page (which is linked to the Blondes vs. Brunettes website) or by holding individual or group fundraisers. $250 must be raised by the draft party in order to make the team, and an additional $250 (for a total of $500) raised by the game day deadline in order to be eligible for playing time. We will announce the teams at the Draft Party on September 10.
