APPLICATION FORM for the international training course: ComEdu: COMICS AS A METHOD IN EDUCATION
International training course for educators, youth workers and comic artists from Latvia, Estonia and Portugal to share and develop the educational comics, to learn comics\ workshop methodology and develop facilitators’ competence to use comic as a method in youth work.

Dates: 22 – 28 October 2019, Portugal (near Lisbon)
Participants: 20 youth workers and artists from Latvia, Estonia and Portugal

The objectives of the training course are:
→ to strengthen the network between the partners, comic artists and educators and youth workers;
→ to share, learn and evaluate the educational materials based on the comics created by the co-working teams in the previous international meeting and to develop methods based on the comics materials for use in youth work;
→ to discover comics as a tool in youth work;
→ to develop facilitators' competence to use the methods in working with youth;
→ to plan dissemination activities of the educational comics.

To expand our network, we would like to invite youth workers, educators and artists who have collaborated with any of the partner organizations before and also new motivated participants to join!

APPLY if you are:
→ YOUTH WORKER / EDUCATOR or COMIC ARTIST that is actively involved in youth work and collaborates with one of the partner organizations;
→ 18+ years old resident of Latvia, Estonia or Portugal;
→ English speaker (the working language of the project is English);
→ ready to actively participate in the whole training course in Portugal from 22 – 28 October 2019;
→ ready to learn and contribute to developing educational materials on how the comics can be applied in non-formal education;
→ ready to organize a local activity – the comics exhibition opening and workshops in your local community together with other participants and the partner organization from your country.

PROGRAM OUTLINE
22 Oct→ Arrivals. Welcome dinner. Introduction & getting to know each other, program, practicalities. History of the project.
23 Oct→ Aims, objectives of the project. Group building & resources. The exhibition of intellectual output – educational comics. Comics as a method in youth work.
24 Oct→ Discovering different comic workshop techniques & methods and facilitation styles. Designing comic workshops. Preparation – developing the content, methods and materials.
25 Oct→ Comic workshops in practice: comic workshops delivered by participants and the opening of the exhibition at Amadora Comic Festival. Feedback.
26 Oct→ Collection of methods and materials for reports and e-book. Future ideas.
27 Oct→ Future plans & follow-up: planning for dissemination events – content, program, logistics. Evaluation. Reports. Visibility.
28 Oct→ Departures

CONDITIONS
Thanks to the support of Erasmus+: Youth in Action program, your accommodation, food, training materials and travel expenses will be covered in return of your time and energy investment organizing local event!
→ N.B.! The travel reimbursement (up to 300 EUR for Latvian and Estonian participants and up to 25 EUR for Portuguese participants) will be transferred to your personal bank account after the participation in the training course, providing the travel documents and delivering the expected outcome (local event). Please, contact the organizing team for more details and do not purchase any tickets before final confirmation. However, you will need to arrange your own travel insurance. Make sure you also have a valid European Health Insurance Card. And please, do not buy any tickets before the final confirmation from the organizers! Thank you!

ComEdu: COMICS FOR EDUCATION is a strategic partnership project in the field of youth (innovative practices) that aims to improve and expand international youth work by bringing comic artists and youth workers together and developing comics as a learning and communication tool in non-formal education. And ComEdu: COMICS AS A METHOD IN EDUCATION is 2nd international co-working meeting and training course of this international strategic partnership project.
