Welcome to Generals Period
The goals of Generals Period are to:
1. Provide students with access to extra help in their classes.
2. Allow students time to complete assignments.
3. Decrease stress for students by providing built-in time during the school day to get help and complete work.

Working together, we will set individual goals, class norms, and class procedures to ensure that all students have a successful Generals Period. Please read on, to learn about some of the common expectations for students during the Generals Period.
Student Expectations
Students are expected to come to class, on time, with appropriate materials and willingness to be productive. The teacher expects behavior that contributes to an optimal learning environment for all students. Respect your teacher, yourself, and your fellow students.
Teacher Expectations
Our classroom is a community, and we will be supportive of each other as we strive to meet our individual goals. I will maintain a calm and orderly environment conducive to student learning. I will also help students access the resources they need to meet the goals of the Generals’ Period.
Accessing Resources
Many resources are available for students during Generals Period, including the library, counselors, and classroom teachers.

To access these resources, students must follow the appropriate procedures:
1. To visit with another teacher: Obtain a pass in advance from that teacher. Check in at GP, watch the announcements, and then move to the inviting teacher’s classroom. You must remain with this teacher for the rest of GP.
2. To visit the library: Sign up with your GP teacher, obtain a pass with a seat number, watch announcements, and then move to the library. You will check in with the library staff upon arrival to verify the reservation. You must remain in the library for the rest of GP.
3. To visit a counselor: Report to GP, watch announcements, wait until 11am, obtain a pass from your GP teacher, and then go to the counseling office.
4. To visit a computer lab: Sign up with GP teacher, obtain a pass with a seat number, watch announcements, and then move to the computer lab. You will check in with the computer lab staff upon arrival to verify the reservation. You must remain in the computer lab for the rest of GP.

Movement and Passes
No movement will occur on Mondays. Please plan accordingly. This time will be used for in-class and school-based activities.

All students must have a pass when in the hallways. This includes visits to lockers and the bathroom. Students without a pass will be asked to return to their GP.
Announcements
Announcements will take place during Generals Period. All students need to remain in their Generals Period classrooms for announcements. Upon completion of the announcements students will be allowed to access other resources if they have the appropriate passes and movement is allowed.
Grading
Students will not receive a letter grade for Generals Period.
Attendance
Attendance will be taken during Generals Period and students are expected to be on time and in class just as they would for their academic classes. Generals Period teachers will follow the same attendance and tardy procedures as are followed in academic courses. Students can expect disciplinary consequences for unexcused absences and tardies to Generals Period. Please see the student handbook for detailed information on the Washington-Liberty Attendance Policy.
Academic Integrity
As a sign of respect in our school community, students will do their own work, tell the truth, respect the rights and property of others, and act honorably at all times. Incidents involving cheating, plagiarism, and/or other academic dishonesty will be taken seriously and acted upon according to the procedures set forth in the student handbook. This applies to individual work, group work, and the use of instructional resources.
Bathroom and Lockers
Students are encouraged to take care of personal needs before Generals Period begins. However, students will be allowed on a case by case basis to use the bathroom or go to their locker. Any student who abuses this privilege, will lose it.
