IV. Specifics:
Please be brief, but feel free to explain your answers when necessary.
1. Please indicate which area(s) you are interested in composing for:
If accepted, you will be commissioned to compose a new piece, or use a recently composed piece, for one or more of the following instruments. Your primary concert piece will premiere during the festival and is to be submitted no later than April 15.
Required
2. Speedwriting
You have the option to have a 2nd short (1-3 minutes) concert piece performed that you may compose (during the 2-week workshop) as part of a speed-writing challenge. You will find out your assigned instrumentation upon arrival. Would you like to participate in this?
3. Do you have a strong Preference for which guest composer(s) you would like to have your private lessons with?
If no preference, then just type "No"; If yes, who would it be?
Your answer
4. Do you hope to collaborate with a choreographer?
If so, you would collaborate on a new piece during the workshop for a performance on the final concert. About 8-9 composers are typically chosen to collaborate with a choreographer. Spaces for collaborators are limited and competitive and are chosen on the basis of compatibility and availability between composers & choreographers.
If you answered "Yes" to #4: Have you ever collaborated with a choreographer/dancer?
No experience necessary but if yes, please describe. Is this a big reason for your interest in the program? (175 characters maximum length)
Your answer
5. What are your ideas and/or difficulties specific to writing for this year's featured instruments and what do you hope to gain from the experience?
This info will be used to personalize your instruction and experience. (500 characters maximum length)
Your answer
6. Do you agree to meet the April 28, 5:00pm, deadline for your concert piece if you are accepted?
If your music is not in by the deadline (PDF's are acceptable), there is a chance that it may not get programmed.
