Students selected for the JV program will volunteer 10-15 hours throughout the summer.
- manning the Children's Summer Reading Program table
- helping at library programs under the supervision of library staff
- assisting at a story time/children's activity
- sharing a special talent
- using the copier
- shelving books
- and more!
In order to complete the JV Program, students must:
- Volunteer between 10-15 hours over the course of the summer;
- Sign up for the library's Teen Summer Reading Program (TSRP); and
- Read for at least 10 hours, which you can track when you register online for the TSRP.
The Clapp Memorial Library is looking for responsible and friendly young adults who will take the position seriously. Submitting a complete application is very important. Students, not their caregivers, should complete the application (but may use a caregiver's email to do so if they do not have their own). Caregivers are always welcome to communicate questions or concerns with Teen Services Coordinator Ruthie Sterling at rsterling@cwmars.org.
The library greatly appreciates the work JVs do each year and will provide each JV who completes the program with a letter for their school file. JVs frequently ask our librarians to provide them letters of reference after volunteering with us for the summer. Unfortunately, due to the cancellations of the 2026 Friends of the Library Book Sales, the library will be unable to offer Book Sale gift certificates to JVs this year. We are looking into alternative modes of showing our appreciation.
