1. The primary purpose of Catholic education is to form students in the faith of Jesus Christ revealed in the Gospels and through the teaching Magisterium of the Church. 2. Catholic schools of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia are distinctive religious educational institutions of the Church; they are not independent schools but are administered and supported by parishes and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. 3. Attending Catholic school is a privilege, not a right. 4. While academic excellence and involvement in extracurricular activities (i.e. sports, clubs, etc.) are important, fidelity to the Catholic identity and mission of the school are fundamental priorities, as well as, attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days of obligation in the worshipping parish community that supports the education of the whole child. 5. The school and its administration have the responsibility to ensure that Catholic values and moral integrity permeate every facet of the school's life and activities. 6. In matters of faith, morals, doctrine and Church law the final determination rests with the Archbishop of Philadelphia.
As a parent or guardian desiring to enroll my child in a Catholic school, I accept this memorandum of understanding. I pledge support for the Catholic identity and mission of this school and by enrolling my child I commit myself to uphold the principles and policies that govern a Catholic school.
Archbishop Ryan High School considers admission for students who have a documented history of good academic performance, discipline and attendance.
- We will not consider students with failures on their report at the time of application.- We will not consider students with reports of poor discipline, have been dismissed from other schools, have pending criminal charges or have been convicted of a crime at the time of application.
Completion of this application DOES NOT GUARANTEE admission to Archbishop Ryan High School. Some students may be required to schedule an admissions interview based on the request of the Archbishop Ryan High School administration.
