Partnership Problem Statement Form - Sachacks VII
Hello! Thank you for considering a partnership with Sachacks VII! We aim to foster creativity among UC Davis students and local businesses during this event, and seek to

Sachacks is a student-run hackathon (a competition where participants build projects in 24 hours and are judged on their creations) in the Sacramento region, bringing together 200+ college students from UC Davis and beyond for 24 hours of creativity, innovation, and building. This year, we are introducing a Track Partner Program that connects local businesses, startups, and organizations with student teams who will develop prototypes, redesigns, analyses, and creative solutions tailored to real-world needs.

As a Track Partner, you will provide problem statements that students can choose to work on during the hackathon.

Check out some examples here: Example Problem Statements.

These statements can be categorized as:

  • Design-focused (e.g., UI/UX platform improvements, branding refresh, visual storytelling)
  • App/Software-focused (e.g., dashboards, automation tools, website enhancements, data analytics)
  • Operations-focused (e.g., employee scheduling, resource optimization, alternative tools/methods)
  • Business/Strategy-focused (e.g., market analysis, workflow optimization, growth strategy)
  • Other (as per your needs/ideas)
Your problem statements do not need to be highly technical or fully defined. A great prompt is something your team wishes you had more time to explore — a workflow you’d like streamlined, a customer-facing experience you’d love improved, or a strategic question where fresh student perspectives could be helpful. Try to be open-ended with your prompts, as that will prompt the most creativity out of participating students. Students will create prototypes, demos, or conceptual solutions in 24 hours, based on the direction you provide.

Please fill out the fields below to help us shape engaging, impactful challenge tracks for the event. If you’re unsure how to phrase your prompts, think in terms of:

  • What would be helpful for your business?
  • What would be creative or exciting for students?
  • What could reasonably be prototyped or conceptualized in a weekend?
Thank you for helping us create meaningful, real-world opportunities for students — and impactful solutions for local businesses like yours!
