Ladies Rock Camp (LRC) is a weekend day camp at that builds our community of volunteers, mentors and activists that support Rain City Rock Camp for Girls’ youth programming. LRC is an opportunity for individuals* 21 and over to let loose for the weekend and play rockin’ music together. You’ll choose an instrument, receive instruction, form a band, and work together to write an original song that you’ll play on stage Sunday. Over the course of the weekend you’ll also be offered a variety of workshops on topics related to being a person who rocks!
LRC's programmatic vision is to cultivate a community of passionate, creative, and socially engaged individuals who will serve as stewards, mentors and leaders in changing the world. We hope to raise an army of Self-Love Warriors and Unapologetic Rockers to spread the mission of RCRC, far and wide.
*All people who identify as female (cis or trans), or gender non-conforming are welcome to be campers and/or volunteers in leadership positions at RCRC.
The week before camp, you will receive a detailed schedule of the weekend. However, you can plan on camp beginning at 11AM on Friday and ending around 9 PM on Sunday, including Showcase times (see the LRC web page for a sample schedule). Please take these hours into consideration when making travel arrangements and adjusting work schedules. You should plan on being at camp for all hours according to the schedule posted on the website. It’s a good idea to allow about two hours of travel and check in time to get to and from the airport by car, or 3 hours by public transportation, for your departing flight on Sunday. If you can, we recommend staying until Monday morning. You will want to have the full Showcase experience on Sunday!
ENROLLMENT PROCESS AND CONFIRMATION
We will confirm your enrollment via email, mail or telephone as soon as we process your application and check or online payment. If your instrument spot fills up before your tuition payment/deposit reaches us, we will notify you by telephone or email and automatically assign you to your second instrument choice. We will add you to a waiting list for your first instrument choice. We will announce on our website when enrollment or specific instruments are full.
In Spring 2017 we began using sliding scale tuition for LRC. A sliding scale is a tool that can provide equitable access to skill-building and life-long learning opportunities, regardless of financial resources. This method of payment requires active participation and personal reflection on what makes sense for your family’s financial situation, and how you would like to support learning in the Rain City Rock Camp community. The sliding scale is one way of acknowledging differences in wealth, income, costs, and privilege and actively addresses the economic disparities in our communities and society. Rain City Rock Camp is using this model as a way to say ‘no’ to the ways things are and ‘yes’ to the ways we believe things can be, while providing an excellent rock camp experience for all.
We hope that this fee structure offers more opportunities to engage in our community. Additionally, if this payment structure still presents a barrier to participation, please contact us about more options such as payment plans and full tuition assistance. Online payment is available on the Ladies Rock Camp page of our website. Checks can be made payable to Rain City Rock Camp for Girls and sent to:
117 E Louisa St, #445, Seattle, WA 98102.
If you can give more than the tuition or would like to sponsor another Ladies Rock Camper, we will gratefully accept your donation! While your tuition is not considered a donation, any amount beyond that is, and all donations are tax deductible. Whether you can give $5.00 or $500.00 above the full tuition amount ($425), every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated!
Cancellations more than 30 days prior to the first day of camp programming will be issued a tuition refund, minus a $50 deposit fee. Cancellations 30 days or less from the first day of camp forfeit their tuition and will not be issued a refund.
Rain City Rock Camp does not provide accommodations. Some local participants may be willing to host out-of-town campers. Please indicate your preference on your application and we will do our best to coordinate a host for you.
I read the above information and agree to send in my tuition in a timely manner if I am accepted to LRC. I also understand the cancellation policy and enrollment process.
