Your enrollment at The Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance is at the sole discretion of the teachers and owners and can be terminated at any time. You are a valued member of the Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance. In order for all parties to get the most out of this experience and to create, foster and protect the training environment, dancers and parents must adhere to the following Code of Conduct while participating in any activity associated with the Academy:
*Dancers should be fully prepared to dance promptly by their designated class start time which means arrive early to prepare.
*Follow all class rules during dance classes, performances or competitions. This includes in our hallways and bathrooms. This includes siblings and all family members.
*Follow class dress code during dance classes, performances or competitions.
*Focus full attention on the dance class at all times - cell phones are not permitted in the studio accept when allowed at the sole discretion of your teacher(s).
*Be responsible for learning and practicing your designated choreography.
*Help to maintain and restore the dance facility to a neat and clean condition after every use.
*Respect all teachers, dancers, assistants, dance facility staff and parents at all times.
*Respect other dancers by not talking or creating distractions while they practice and/or perform.
*Any collaborations between members of the Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance and members of another school must be approved in advance by a teacher in writing.
*Represent The
Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance in a dignified manner, maintaining the highest standard of decency and courtesy in all communications, both private and public. This includes all online social media outlets. Participation, anonymously or otherwise, in message boards or official Irish Dance media outlets is strictly prohibited. Please direct all questions to your teacher(s).
*Negative or derogatory comments concerning The Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance, its students or parents, students or parents of other dance schools and teachers or adjudicators will not be tolerated. All concerns should be directly and discreetly communicated to your teacher(s).
*Every aspect of a dancer’s choreography, competition attire and major competition entries (excluding feiseanna) shall be at the sole discretion of or require advance approval by a Harper-Kirk Academy teacher.
*Any disrespectful or inappropriate communication from dancers, parents, guardians, or relatives, will result in immediate consequences as outlined in this code of conduct, at the discretion of the teacher.
*Any behavior deemed unkind, jealous, bullying, unsupportive, or purposefully non-inclusive from parents or dancers will result in immediate consequences, as outlined in this code of conduct. This includes conduct in the parent waiting lounge, competition environments, performances, and online/social media interactions. All families associated with Harper-Kirk Academy dancers are expected to foster a welcoming, supportive, and encouraging environment for ALL at ALL times.
PLEASE NOTE: Code of Conduct violations may result in any one or combination of the following actions, and shall be at the sole discretion of the teacher(s). These are in no particular order.
- Termination of membership with The Harper-Kirk Academy of Irish Dance
- Temporary suspension from dance classes and/or performances with parent notification
- Temporary suspension of Parent/Guardian from the parent waiting lounge, performances, competitions, or any combination of these, for a period of time determined by the teacher. A representative can be brought in their place, if approved by the teacher, or the child can refrain from attending classes, performances or competitions for that period of time.
- Written counseling statement to be returned with student and parent signature
- Temporary or permanent suspension of Private Lessons
- Discussion with student and/or parent
