We know that our farmers often face systemic barriers in navigating the legal system and building thriving businesses.
That's why the DBFLF's new initiative provides comprehensive support, offering both legal advocacy and business development services to ensure our awardee protect their land and build lasting legacies of success.
To be eligible farmers must:
Be a DBFLF awardee and in current good standing with DBFLF awards (no unused funds, no misuse of funds, etc.).
○ Applicants must be a citizen of the United States, United States non-citizen national, or a qualified alien under applicable Federal immigration laws.
Farmers can apply for the following consulting services on the following topics to be provided by a relevant expert consultant/contractor or DBFLF staff member:
■ Permitting
■ Legal consulting
■ Conflict management
■ Business development
■ USDA loan and grant programs (NRCS, FSA, etc)
○ If any projects appear to involve land disturbing activity, DBFLF will confirm with USDA representatives if the project would require an Environmental Assessment prior to approving the application and disbursing funding.
