Past Preserver: Preserving Your Memories
I will do my best to maintain your tapes in good working order. To transfer the data, the tape still needs to be playable. If I'm not able to play any of your tapes in my machine, I'll return it to you and there will be no charge for that tape. Tapes can get dirty over time, and if the spindles can no longer spin, I will not be able to transfer the footage. All tapes degrade with time, and so the older the tape, the better the chance is that it might not be playable anymore.

I can attempt to repair tapes where the film has come off the reels, which can sometimes allow the recording to be preserved. There is no guarantee that this will work, but I will do my best.

Cost Breakdown:
1st Type of Conversion/Tape (VHS, VHS-C, Hi-8, 8mm, MiniDV, audio cassette, DVD/CD): $10
All Subsequent Tapes: $5/tape
2nd Type of Conversion/Tape: $3/tape
Additional copies of DVDs: $1/DVD
Data extracted from a floppy disk/Mini CD per disk: $2
USB Drive: $10 (or free if you bring your own)
Tape Repair: $5/tape
Photo Negatives/Slides: $5/100 photos

I can convert both regular VHS tapes and the smaller tapes that fit in camcorders, including VHS-C, Hi-8, 8mm, and MiniDV formats. I am not set up to convert other formats at this time, such as Betamax. I can also get information off of old 3.5 inch floppy disks or Mini CDs and audio tracks off of audio cassettes.

When requesting a turnaround time, please keep in mind that each conversion requires me to play the entire tape and so it can take a few hours.

If you are shipping the tapes to me, you will need to cover the cost of shipping them to me and back.

If you want digital copies of your tapes, please include a USB thumb drive. Bear in mind that video files can be large, which means you will need to send a drive with a lot of space. I'll let you know if there's not enough space for all your files and we can work something out. Please let me know if you want to combine more than one tape onto a single disc, bearing in mind that my prices are per tape and not per finalized disc.

I prefer to be paid on VenMo or through PayPal, but if those do not work, I'm open to other arrangements.

In order to keep things organized, I will complete all of one client's tapes before moving on to the next one. If for some reason one of your discs does not work, I will provide a replacement at no charge.
