Language Equity Helping Circle — Nominations


General Circle created Language Equity Helping circle on November 30, 2021; Andy Grant and Lea Shani were selected to start the circle. We are seeking up to 4 additional circle members for 8 working meetings to develop a language equity recommendation for General Circle.

Helping Circle Aims:
 - Writing SoFA’s language equity statement
 - Review the SoFA’s voice - International language guidelines
 - Generating a proposal for GC on how to implement language equity and multilingual spaces within SoFA’s
    circles and events

Qualifications for Membership:
— SoFA working membership
— passion for language equity/justice
— sufficient English; preference for being bilingual
— some experience with technical solutions is prefered but not required
— representation from different language and location circles; language authorities are especially welcome

Context:
SoFA is an international organisation that operates in English as the main language but have members from a diversity of languages and cultures. We identify a need coming up in different SoFA circles to have more tools for language equity in order for everyone’s voice to be heard and needs to be met.
