Miami Girls Rock Camp is a week-long summer day camp program for girls and gender nonconforming youth aged 8 to 17. Our mission is to use music and performance as a platform to promote self-esteem, community, and creative expression. Campers do not need to have any musical experience, and instruments are provided.

***Applicants must be at least 8 years old by the beginning date of camp (7/29/2019) to be considered***

The program offers instrument instruction, songwriting/band practice, live performances by visiting artists/DJs, and workshops. The week culminates in a showcase concert. Campers receive 1.5 hours of instruction each day on selected instruments (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals), in semi-private groups organized by skill level and age. Campers are organized into bands and write music and lyrics collectively, assisted by band coaches. Every day of camp, we have a DJ/Band lunch hour, giving campers the opportunity to watch a performance while they have lunch. After the DJ/Band finishes their set, there is a Q&A with the artist. Campers gain first-hand exposure to professional musicians through performances and workshops with a variety of topics. At the end of the week, camper bands perform their original songs at a showcase concert at a local music venue.

***Camp will be held from Monday, July 29th – Friday, August 2nd, with a grand finale concert on Sunday, August 4th.***

HOURS: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (drop off 8:30-9am and pick up 5-5:30pm).
Sunday’s Final Concert will take place at TBA

APPLICATION DETAILS AND DEADLINES

We will be accepting 50 campers this year, roughly half in the 8-12 age group and half in the 13-17 age group. Due to the limited amount of spots available, we are not able to accept all applicants. Those who do not get accepted will be given a spot on the waiting list. We encourage you to get in your applications as soon as possible. The deadline to submit camper applications is MONDAY, APRIL 1st and we will notify applicants of acceptance results on MONDAY, APRIL 15th. If a camper is accepted, additional information will be sent along with acceptance results. Because one of the goals of MGRC is to create a camp with youth who have a diversity of skill levels, instrument interest, and demographic backgrounds, we will review applications with these things in mind.


CAMP FEE AND REFUND POLICY
The camp fee is $250. Scholarships are available.

***The fee is due within two weeks of being notified that a camper has been accepted to the camp session. If they are unable to attend, you can receive a refund, minus a 10% administrative fee, through June 3rd. After June 3rd, the fee is non-refundable.

As a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, Miami Girls Rock Camp raises funds and receives equipment donations through foundations, individuals, special events, local businesses, and other sponsors.
