The Michigan Financial Wellness Network's "Smart Money MI Kids Read" program is now accepting 2024 book requests.
Hello Library friends!
Guess what?!? Our 2024 book will be another brand new book, developed specifically for this year's Smart Money MI Kids Read! We're very excited to introduce you to "Owl + Otter and the Big Talent Show!" (FYI, our original book development task force includes various perspectives, including: children's book publisher, children's book author, youth librarian, credit union, early childhood educator, Library of Michigan, Michigan Credit Union Foundation, and the MFWN program coordinator.)

As you know, our Michigan Financial Wellness Network (MFWN) facilitates year-round collaboration, and MFWN Partners provide or host non-solicitous financial literacy programming. We meet via zoom each month. Please join us! Save the Dates and Register for future MFWN Partner Zoom Meetings:

Next MFWN partner zoom is 8:30am, Wednesday, March 13; featured topic is learning how to use the free financial literacy platform, SmartPath, for youth grades K-9th. Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYtcOiqqDopGdTV0-_KeS1k4zR12CcjvxC7

Our year-round efforts culminate with intensified programming during Financial Literacy Month, April 1-30. To this end, we've been hard at work over the summer and into autumn, planning for our beloved Smart Money MI Kids Read program!

By completing this request for FREE BOOKS FOR KIDS, you agree to provide money-themed children's programming during Financial Literacy Month, April 1-30, 2024, utilizing "Owl + Otter and the Big Talent Show" for our Smart Money MI Kids Read program, supplemented by fun, age-appropriate programming. Librarians are so creative! We believe most libraries will do in-person story time events, using our NEW, ORIGINAL book, along with coloring sheets, finger puppet plays, songs, rhymes, crafts, and more!

It is important that you share with us the ways in which you plan to implement your Smart Money MI Kids Read program. How will you get these books into the hands of Michigan children during the month of April? Do you plan to partner with your local credit union for program support? What might your program look like?  We want to hear about it!
