Now in its 12th year, The Bushwick Film Festival (BFF) is more than just a film festival – it’s a local and global community of passionate, creative and diverse voices that believe in the power of story to transform and connect people and communities.
Last year BFF received over 1300 film submissions from over 40 different countries; screened approximately 100 of the best & most diverse emerging films in Brooklyn & Worldwide; and welcomed over 3000 guests to Bushwick over the 5 day festival weekend!
This year’s festival dates are October 2-6 at participating venues throughout Bushwick. Like every year, we anticipate a bigger turn out!

RequirementsA FUN, can-do attitude (1) committee meeting per month (1st Tuesday of each month. 6 meetings total)(1) check in conference call a month (4th Wed. of each month. 6 calls total)(2.5) hours a week (10 hours/month) dedicated to tasks assigned to you during committee/conference call meetingsVolunteer for 2 events during the 12th Annual Bushwick Film Festival Strong organizational and communication skills – both written and verbalExperience with Microsoft Office, spreadsheets and Google Docs a mustMust possess a laptop, tablet or other device that can be used to fulfill tasks+21 years or older
Volunteers will be asked to select a subcommittee to join. We ask that you select the subcommittee which tasks you have the most experience doing. Subcommittees & descriptions:
Design Works closely with Creative Director who creates all branding materials and other aesthetic components of the festival for social and print. Helps ensure all deliverables are available and designs meet deadlines.
Event Production Assists in event planning, event production and logistics. Helps to think of ways to create a great BFF experience for attendees.
Marketing Team (Communications, Writing/Editorial, Promotions, PR, Ticketing) Creates content/editorial pieces for blogs and social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram). Helps manage and update website. Helps distribute promotional material for festival (print and digital). Outreach to media/news regarding festival. Helps with setting up ticketing platform and editing ticket information.
Partnerships & SponsorshipsHelps with sponsor/partner outreach (emails and phone calls). Brainstorming great ideas on how to partner successfully.
Programming (films, panels, special events)Works with Director of Programming and Programmers to review and catalogue films, outreach to potential filmmakers, panelists, and guests. Think of cool ideas for special events and panels. Communicate with festival filmmakers and participants.
Video & Photography Helps create video/photo content. Documents all festival events with photo/video. Also works with marketing team to ensure all visual content/materials are available in the correct format.
