Anne Sheetz Leadership/Education/Research Award 2024-2025
Purpose
To recognize the accomplishments of a MA school nurse and advance school nursing practice through education or research.
Criteria
The following criteria for recipients of the new Anne Sheetz Scholarship Fund Award:
1. Massachusetts school nurse currently working in school health: direct service, administration, education, or research
2. Known by MSNO for qualities demonstrated by Anne Sheetz:
• Advocacy: state legislative advocacy and/or local advocacy for policies that support student health, safety, school attendance, and/or achievement.
• Collaboration: working with diverse organizations and individuals to create/improve/evaluate current school health practices
• Dissemination: shares student health ,safety, and achievement issues and/or best school health practices through oral presentations and/or written publications
• Professionalism: stays current in practice; is well regarded by colleagues
• Research: engages in data collection and reporting for studies on student and/or school nurse practice issues.
• Risk-taking: demonstrates communication and behaviors that effectively encourage individuals and/or organizations to improve practices/processes that support student, health, safety and achievement
3. Must be a MSNO member; may be on the MSNO Board of Directors
4. The recipient will use funds to attend one school health-related state, regional or national conference in the subsequent 12 months OR to conduct research in their own district, state, or national level.
5. The recipient will provide a brief presentation to the MSNO Board: 1) why they engaged in the specific conference or research project, 2) lessons learned and 3) what would be pertinent to MSNOs strategic plan.
Award Amount: $500
