Congratulations, one or more of your math teachers has applied for the EMpowered by KCI (Elementary Math powered by KCI) program (also known as FAME 4/5), a unique professional development program exclusively for mathematics teachers of 4th and 5th grades.
Your support of their application(s) is an essential part of our review process. The summer program which is 36 hours face-to-face with the remaining 24 hours online, also includes orientation (May), two additional units through coursework in LINC courses at Foothill College, and four follow-up sessions in the academic year. The EMpowered application is competitive for the 30 places for the program.
Please complete this online form for all of your teachers no later than April 30. This form's Web address is http://bit.ly/FAME45principal
Briefly, applicants are interested in learning new pedagogical methods and educational technology skills for teaching and learning mathematical concepts. We highly anticipate teachers will return to their schools with fresh ideas for improving their own teaching and improving your school’s mathematics professional learning community.
EMpowered is sponsored by the Krause Center for Innovation at Foothill College.
The program meets May 12, 2018 (orientation) and July 25, 26, 27, 30, 31, and August 1. The four follow-up sessions are typically on a Saturday in October, November, February, and March of the academic year. Participants meet at Foothill College and continue with follow-on sessions and PLCs in the academic year. For more information about the program, please visit our website: http://bit.ly/FAME45info .
Your responses in this online form will be kept confidential.
