Cowpea Consortium SNP Genotyping Panel

Researchers at the University of California, Riverside, in partnership with colleagues in Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal, intend to develop a 60,000-SNP array for cowpea that will emphasize diversity within breeding germplasm of relevance to Sub-Saharan Africa and US production regions. The design will have as a goal two SNPs per ~27,000 gene models to detect as many as four haplotypes per gene, along with several thousand additional SNPs selected for deeper haplotyping or by position, copy number variation or other feature of the cowpea genome.
