Call for Proposals for 2019 Conference Breakout and Intensive Sessions, Standalone Workshops, and Webinars
The MD/DE/WV Region of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators seeks proposals from authors, illustrators, editors, agents, art directors, and other publishing professionals for its 2019 programming.

Please submit a separate proposal form for each workshop topic you would like us to consider. If a workshop topic could be adapted to multiple formats, you need only submit it once and indicate that on the form. We are looking for programming in the following formats:
-Conference Breakout Session (50 minutes) - for MD/DE/WV Region Conference at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, MD, March 22-24, 2019.
-Conference Intensive Workshop (3 hours) - for MD/DE/WV Region Conference at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, MD, March 22-24, 2019.
-Panel (50 minutes) - for MD/DE/WV Region Conference at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights, MD, March 22-24, 2019.
-Standalone workshop (1 hour) - to be arranged at a mutually convenient time and location in the MD/DE/WV region.
-Webinar (90 minutes including Q&A) - online session to be scheduled at a mutually convenient time.

We are seeking proposals in the following areas:
-various categories of children’s literature such as picture book, middle grade, young adult and nonfiction
-genres common to children's literature such as contemporary, fantasy, mystery, humor, tragedy, historical.
-sessions focusing on the craft of writing and illustrating: setting, voice, character development, illustration techniques, etc.
-the business of children's books: marketing, promotion, website design, technology, school visits, social media, querying and submitting, working with agents, self-publishing, etc.

Our 2019 Regional Conference theme is "Steering the Craft" and will feature a broad array of sessions focusing on the craft of creating children's books as well as sessions helping participants "steer the craft" of their publishing careers.

We will accept proposals through September 30, 2018. We will respond to all applicants in October 2018. If your program is selected, we will contact you to negotiate honorarium amount, travel and lodging reimbursement (if applicable), book sales, and additional honoraria for providing critiques. Any proposals not chosen for our 2019 programming will be saved for consideration for future programming.
