SC Council for the Social Studies & Nystrom Civil Rights/ Civil Liberties Excellence in Teaching Award
The SCCSS annually honors the outstanding performance of teachers, college professors, and other worthy individuals and programs that work to promote quality social studies in the Palmetto State. Winning teachers will receive the following:
** a plaque to commemorate the event;
** recognition by the SCCSS at the annual fall conference;
** notification of the local media of this accomplishment;
The application deadline is July 1 each year.

Nominations Materials
After the nomination is received, each nominee will be required to submit the following in an email to Albert Robertson, SCCSS Awards chairman, at albertrobertson612@gmail.com.

1. A description of classroom setting, population demographics, year-long goals and a rationale for those goals.
2. A sample lesson/unit plan.
3. Supporting documentation, such as photographs; newspaper articles; letters of support.
4. A description of the applicant’s involvement in school, civic, and professional organizations.
5. Description of applicant’s leadership roles held at school.
6. Letter from principal verifying eligibility.
