Welcome to MLK's Goodr Grocery Store. We are thrilled to have you here shopping for your family to fill the gaps that rising food costs may create. This resource is available to you as a supplementary food source in addition to your current grocery shopping. This resource is exclusively for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Academic Middle School families and Registration is required. Please see the attached link for registration.

Please note that the store is opened every Tuesday and Thursday  from 4:00-6:00 and every Wednesday from 2:30- 6:00 and visits will be by appointments, once you register you will receive the calendar link for scheduling your 15 minutes shopping appointment. On your first visit, you will receive two reusable tote bags that you are able to fill during your visit.  We do ask that all of your items fit in those two bags so that this store may be a resource to as many families as possible. The store has a shopping system that we will share with you on your first shopping trip based on a limited number of item per shopping category. 

Upon visiting the store you will be greeted by the Goodr Store Champion, Shourouq Routher, a YMCA staff who will sign you in, explain the process and categories, and give you your shopping bags, she will also be taking suggestions for future items you'd like to see so feel free to give feedback and suggestions. Please keep in mind that this is not to be considered a food bank or food pantry. The Goodr store is meant to be a secondary source of grocery needs and not a primary one. We currently only have the funding and space capacity to provide a limited number of Grocery trips a month, to maximize access in an equitable way there is a system of shopping that will be launched on the week of September 16.

The current program capacity is to serve 70 families on a bi-weekly shopping schedule. We will be creating a waiting list for additional families that sign up and will open it up as the store capacity expands. To secure your spot in the list, please complete the registration form as soon as possible. Shourouq will also share with you other resources in the community that offer similar services including the YMCA Food Pantry at Bayview YMCA. We understand that the store has limited capacity to meet all our families needs which is why we are emphasizing this is NOT a primary resource for all your households grocery needs, it is however the first step of supporting our families in new ways we have not been able to provide before and with your utilizing of this resource and feed back, we can seek more funding opportunities make it grow and expand.

Bienvenidos a la tienda de comestibles Goodr de MLK. Estamos encantados de poder asistir a su familia y entender los crecientes costos de los alimentos. Este recurso está disponible para usted como una fuente de alimentos suplementaria. Este recurso es exclusivamente para las familias de la Escuela Secundaria Académica Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Para poder recibir alimentos es necesario registrarse.
