The Junior Mountaineers Club was started to wage war on screens! It's aim is to get kids reading, being outside, exploring, adventuring, and being creative during the summer months!
Summer 2022 was the first year of The Junior Mountaineers Brigade. Club Headquarters recieved stacks and stacks of postcards from the brigade and LOVED mailing out club patches to those amazing kids who advanced to the rank of colonel and brigadier.
This summer club is intended on being run by snail mail, and no merit badges need any computers or screens to be earned. Kids can send in the post cards themselves to Club HQs and then anticipate getting a patch returned to them in the mail. Our number 1 priority this summer is to have the patches and stickers produced well before the club begins so that kids aren't waiting a terribly long time for the post to arrive. (that was the biggest hiccup last summer)
For those of you who are reading this, the coolest news we have yet to share publicly, is that we have a new president of The Junior Mountaineers Club!!! We are so excited to have someone who is excited and shares the passion and purpose of the club!!! He wants to help get kids into nature, and help kids be kids. And I think he will help take this club to the next level. The new president is Walker Dinwiddie... you won't find him on social media - but he will be helping write the merit badge workbook this session, and imparting his years of nature wisdom, adventure skills, and joyful creativity with the lucky kids of the summer 2023 brigade!
While we scheme and come up with the upcomming summer's adventures... we welcome parental input. What would you like to see your kid doing more of? What worked last year? And what would you like to see improved? Please answer the questions below and let us know!
