Sheffield Design Week 2016 will take place between October 22nd-30th. 2016. It will be a citywide celebration of design in all its forms. Sheffield Design Week is a collaborative platform aiming to increase awareness and appreciation of design and develop new audiences. Volunteering at Sheffield Design Week is a great way to expand your experience and meet industrial professionals. Apart from been part of a brand new vibrant festival, there are many benefits to volunteering at Sheffield Design Week. These include:- - A limited edition t-shirt and tote bag created by Design Republic - Free admission to our MADE NORTH conference* - Free tickets to film screenings* *Subject to availability. As part of Sheffield Design Week we have the Sheffield Design & Architecture Film Festival with screenings across the city. We are looking for people to work in a front of house capacity, to usher screenings and to help with the day to day running of screenings. You will be checking tickets, helping the box office, and making sure screenings run smoothly; reporting any technical faults to the venue manager. Experience in customer service, films, and design would be advantageous. The benefit of this role is once the film has been ushered then you get to sit in and watch the films. If you have a passion for cinema and design then this is the ideal role for you!
Do you love galleries and museums? Do you want to get a behind-the-scenes look at how they are run? Then become a Gallery Invigilator for Sheffield Design Week’s many exhibits throughout the city centre. In this capacity you will be the first point of contact for members of public visiting these exhibitions, ensuring the safety of exhibits, and in some cases helping us install these exhibits. A passion for museum, galleries and design is beneficial as well as excellent customer service.
Sheffield Design Week has a range of events as part of its programme these include the MADE NORTH conference, panel debates, maker’s fair, and parties. We are looking for people who have a good understanding of how to make these events run smoothly. Duties on the day will range from working front of house, looking after guests, microphone running, queue management, and ad hoc duties that may arise during in the event. The ability to work under pressure, events management, customer service and prior conference experience is advantageous. If you love events, and want to be part of a brand new festival then this is for you.
We want to try and capture every moment of Sheffield Design Week 2016. As a Photography Assistant you will be capturing the best of the festival. We will use your photographs for a wide range of social media and press; and to promote the festival in future. You will be taking pictures of a range of guests, talks, tour and exhibitions. Prior camera experience and own equipment essential. You need to be fly-on-the-wall while still getting great shots, creativity and outside the box thinking encouraged. Where possible we will attribute all images to you. A great way for you to expand your portfolio
There will be many great guests and talks happening at the festival, and we want to capture the best of them. As Film Crew you will be interviewing guests, filming and editing a video from begging to end. We want videos to use on a range of social media and on our website. The ability to turn round content quickly and to a high standard is essential. This will be great exposure for aspiring film makers.Where possible we will attribute all film footage to you. Please Note: We are looking for complete film crews who can deliver a video from start to finish. You must be able to provide your own equipment.
As a Distribution/Information Coordinator you will be at the centre of the festival. The first point of contact for people enquiring about the festival you will have a good knowledge of Sheffield, and Sheffield Design Week. You will also be distributing festival programmes and Design Trails throughout the city centre. Excellent customer service and a passion for the festival are essential. Great position if you are a people person, who can deliver information in a confident fashion.
