Talking Circles Nominations 2010
Three years ago, a small group of staff from Campus & Residence Life intended to create dialogue and leadership on issues of diversity and social justice for a select group of student leaders through a retreat called Talking Circles. The retreat was held over at the end of J-term and was rooted around the Native American tradition of the Talking Circle. Because of its success, Talking Circles has become an annual retreat.
The Talking Circles 2010 planning committee invites your nominations of first-year students who are open to dialogue as they explore various aspects of race, oppression, privilege and difference at the retreat Jan. 29 – Jan. 31 at Camp St. Croix in Hudson, Wisconsin.
The three-day retreat, sponsored by Campus & Residence Life, is for first-year students who are committed to making positive change within the immediate community and see themselves as change agents for the university. A number of speakers will discuss various aspects of diversity and social justice. This is an opportunity to encourage growth in first-year student leaders.
To nominate a student, submit her or his name and a short statement on why you think that student should participate by answering the questions below.
